I was gonna go see 2022's "Downton Abbey: A New Era" with my mom tomorrow, so the plan for today was to watch 2019's "Downton Abbey" -- having got through three seasons of the show -- but then my parents' car had a nervous breakdown, so that's been postponed.
Instead, one of those Letterboxd never shuts the fuck up about, #148, or #798, 1994 Chinese picture "Chunking Express."
#150, or #800, but I don't know what it is yet, leaving now for Sneak Preview.
I did my Sneak Preview guessing last night.
#187, or #837, let's watch another John Carpenter, 1994's "In the Mouth of Madness."
🔫 "Memory" (2022)
The amnesia thing really isn't as central as you'd expect, it's mostly just Neeson playing slow and old, it's all just a bit sad -- is he even really acting? -- and then at the end he can't remember something until he gets to deliver it with some drama.
Mostly just quite a lot of gun violence. Quite a lot of angry men telling each other their origin stories and scowling about crime. Bleh.
👄 "In the Mouth of Madness" (1994)
@Alexis The key clue is unfortunately covered by a 'soon to be a major motion picture' sticker.

@kurt "This is where he went," Trent says, pointing at the cut-out shape of New Hampshire.
Confused execs circle the table. "Sutter Cane went to the movies?"
@Alexis If Kathy Bathes hobbled you would you simply not hobble?
@kurt If Kathy Bates tried to hobble me I would simply dodge.
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@Alexis I've always been a fan (never actually read the comic till years later.)
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@LexPendragon Yeah, the comic is one of those I'm always perpetually about to get around to but never do. But this does push me closer to getting around to it.
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@Alexis The one or two I've read only had a passing resemblance to the movie.
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@Alexis The Boy Meets World extended universe is weird.
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@kurt But not in China, where the whole franchise got axed after Boy Meets Tank.
🚀👧 "Tank Girl" (1995)
@Alexis underrated classic. Brilliant film.
I'm not a big Lovecraft person, but I've heard good things.
