Today's film, #1, 1984's "The Terminator," because they're showing T2 at the movie theatre this week and it probably works better if I've seen T1 recently.

Do I have James Cameron on the brain for some reason? Is this just Avatar 2 anxiety?

Did gangs of punks actually ever look like that? Hanging out near observatories for no discernible reasons?

I'm too polite, I'd never rip a page out of a phone book meant for general use. Inevitably this is what would get me killed in one of these stories.

this film's present day is already aesthetically pretty dark future-y, like if I teleported into Tech-Noir I'd assume everyone there had some kind of brain implant

though obviously it's LA, which has looked like everywhere and everywhen

I feel like "kill Sarah Connor to prevent the birth of her resistance leader son" should be a, like, pretty precise cut into the timeline and not the absolute butchering the killer robot makes of it here.

All those cops he kills -- good, etc -- who knows whose dads they all are!

god, that terminator skeleton puppet is still so good
