I'm having one of those high-energy days with nowhere productive to put that, so I'm gonna make tea and put on another movie from the late 1920s.

This time it's 1928's "The Racket," which I think must be a gangster movie. Another silent one, I'm pretty sure.

mostly bored by this one so far -- it's a lot of pretty static conversation scenes, and the rare bit of action leans toward the confusing. the music is also kinda-- it's consistently too energetic, too bombastic, for what I'd want it to be, it could do with a good rescore.

@Alexis Do you have anything by Lotte Reiniger on your list?
(Have seen only tiny snippets myself, but heard of her)

@Anke My focus has been on Oscar nominees -- as good a place as any to start, since I'm largely pretty vague on cinema from before the 70s that doesn't have King Kong or Godzilla in it -- but there's no reason I can't take some detours.

@Alexis Only if you're interested in silhouette animation

@Alexis But she's the only filmmaker I could think of for the 1920s

@Alexis This is the one where they steal a famous tennis player's racket and which causes a chain reaction that eventually leads to the Ditadura Nacional.
